Marisa Gupta

Originally from Houston, TX, pianist Marisa Gupta completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Houston where she studied with Nancy Weems and Horacio Gutierrez. She has won numerous awards including a Fulbright grant for study in the UK, first prizes at The Corpus Christi National Young Artists’ Competition, Isabel Scionti/ Kingsville International Music Competition, and a National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts/ ARTS award. In the UK, she recently won top prize in the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloists Competition. Her solo appearances include performances for the Hessing Concert series in Germany, at the US Embassy in London (concert with Stephen Kovacavich and Raphael Wallfisch), concerto appearances with The Houston Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony, Montgomery Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, and upcoming performances with the The Haverhill Sinfonia and the City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra. Recently, she was invited to attend the prestigious Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute in the summer of 2002. In masterclasses and private lessons, Marisa has worked with important artists including, Christoph Eschenbach, Ann Schein, John Perry, Yoheved Kaplinsky, and John O’Conor. Marisa is currently working towards a Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studies with Christopher Elton, Maria Curcio, and Alexander Satz.
